![]() ![]() ![]() If we're just talking about "originality" then someone should give as much flak to seeing Overwhelming Stampede, if not more. That being said, a card like Overwhelming Stampede is played in more decks than Craterhoof according to edhrec, so in that sense it's less original. I was pretty new to magic and kept accidentally winning and took it out because I didn't like that. I used to have a Craterhoof and bought it back when it was like $10 when I made my first EDH deck which was mono-G. ![]() So my questions are, why aren't more people running the budget options when they essentially fill the same role.Īnd do you think comparing them that Craterhoof is actually overkill in most cases.not that thats a bad thing.Īlso, obvious side note if you already own a Hoof there is no point cutting it for one of these budget options it is just strictly better. Well I have found that also to be the case while playing the budget options, although much less often. What I found when I cut the Hoof was that in games where Craterhoof would have won me the game anyway, that End-raze and Decimator were enough to get me there also.Īnd if we are talking about how players interact with the game, we all know what happens when a Craterhoof hits the table, if there are no immediate counters the table groans and scoops. Obviously Craterhoof is in a league all on its own when compared to these cards, but is it actually overkill? Being a fairly budget minded player I started looking for more budget options and I gotta say that I am suprised that not many people play ] or ] even though they fill the same finisher role but for $1 instead of $30 (decimator even has synergy with sacrifice decks).Įdit: Craterhoof is actually about $60 currently not $30. However this card is also getting quite expensive. At this point it is undisputed that ] is one of the best finishers that green has to offer. ![]()
